CAP Update

posted 21 Feb 2015, 12:20 by Crossways Dorking
Since the opening of the CAP Mole Valley Debt Centre over 40 clients have been visited in their homes by the Centre Manager (Edwyn Pelly), accompanied by a "befriender". Of those clients, three have already gone debt free! Nine are currently doing well and paying into their CAP accounts, which means that they no longer have to face their creditors themselves. CAP have lifted that burden and they are on their way to being debt free.
Some clients choose not to work with CAP and for others it is not the right solution. However, some clients start well with CAP, but fall away before they are debt free and this is sad for everyone concerned.
Four new clients have been booked in for January 2015; these are in Bookham, Dorking, Cobham and Epsom.

On 6th December 2014 the first evangelistic social event was held. It was a Christmas party at All Saints Café in Leatherhead. It was well attended; there were games, food and drinks, Father Christmas arrived with hand-picked gifts for all the children and the Billy Graham DVD (The Cross) was shown. In response to the DVD three people took a step of faith and gave their lives to Jesus. Each family went home with a hamper of festive goodies - and hope for the future, thanks to the work of CAP.

A summer social event is being planned.

Prayer is vital to the success and fruitfulness of CAP. A prayer meeting is held on the third Monday evening of every month at Bookham Baptist Church. This is a good time to find out what is happening as well as to pray for Edwyn, the clients, the support teams, the steering group and Head Office in Bradford, amongst other things. All are welcome. Volunteers are always needed and the prayer meeting is an opportunity to meet Edwyn and find out about volunteering opportunities.
