Dorking Welcomes Refugees

Dorking Welcomes Refugees - this group is the page where people in Mole Valley can say whether or not they’d be able to accommodate refugees in their homes should the opportunity arise. We also relay information about the other schemes (both local and national) in which people of Mole Valley can take part.

As part of this group, Ivan Tucker is also running a scheme to raise money to house refugees in flats in Mole Valley through pledges to give up a pint of beer every week for a year. 100 pledges to do so raises enough money for a three bedroom flat for one year.

Calais People to People Solidarity Action From DORKING – this group is run by Gemma Clancy, and is the main scheme in Mole Valley to collect donations from people to drive over to the refugee camp in Calais, known as “The Jungle”. Gemma is looking for people to:

-          Help at collections

-          Sort through donations and pack them

-          Drive donations to Calais/London

It is the Mole Valley branch of the “Calais – People to People Solidarity – Action from UK” group.

Gemma is in need of volunteers, and her work is based at the Dorking Christian Centre by St. Martin’s Church.

An individual, Ivan Tucker, is also running a scheme to raise money to house refugees in flats in Mole Valley through pledges to give up a pint of beer every week for a year. 100 pledges to do so raises enough money for a three bedroom flat for one year.
