For the last 20 years we have supported UNLOCK by taking part in their Annual London Walk which on a personal level is a fascinating opportunity to see parts of London which we would not normally see and to visit Christian communities with very different challenges to those in Dorking. Over the years we have seen buildings opened up to community outreach, multi-faith use (sometimes services at the same times! but separated by glass walls), rebuilds or reinventing the building use, initiatives to support homeless communities, outreach to non-English speakers and listed, crumbling buildings with struggling communities. Tim, especially, has enjoyed the hospitality and good food of our Afro-Caribbean Christian family!

Unlock, by various names, has been around since 1972, trying to help (mainly) urban Christians to understand and share their faith appropriately. Our life experience matters; our stories; our joys and sorrows. The Bible has plenty to say - more than we'll ever know - about our lives if we know how to read it and apply it... if we know how to UNLOCK it

The purpose of the walk is raise money to support these churches we visit and also for the work of UNLOCK to support urban churches. We usually try to get a group of people together to support this. This year the route is 7 miles, visiting 7 churches – so an opportunity for a sit down, cup of tea and toilet stop every mile! We shall be walking along a route covering Lewisham, Deptford and Bermondsey (the route changes every year).

At a time of review of how we take up God’s challenge to us at Crossways this could be a great opportunity to see how He can open our eyes. If you would like to join us, we shall be walking on Saturday 25 April. Please do have a chat and we can give you more details, we would love your company.
